We move to our Winter opening hours from 2nd September – reminder below – it doesn’t feel like Summer has started, never mind the nights drawing in already!
We’re still losing golf balls at an alarming rate of around 400 every week. In total we have lost 2,446 since the new balls came in on June 7th. We realise that there are a lot in the woods on the left and at the back of the range – but theres not over 2000 in there. The bag ban was first introduced a few years ago when we first started using Srixon range balls and we lost over 700 in 6 weeks. The bag ban drastically cut down the loss of range balls so we are seriously considering bringing it back.
If you find range balls on the 1st/4th (yes the 4th!) fairways, please throw them back onto the range and not take them – we find them and have them returned from all over the course so we know people are using them. We had one returned the other day which was found on the housing estate across the road from the 3rd. We do sell a range of affordable golf balls in Reception and we want to spend money improving the course, not additional range ball orders.
If you hit left into the woods, please aim further right – the rugby ‘H’ is your aim point for all the Flightscopes so please use this as your aim even if not using a Flightscope. Quality practice involves aim, so you should always be aiming at something when practicing.
We are looking to put up some ball stop netting the left had side and back of the range to minimise the balls rolling into the longer grasses and make them easier to collect if they do venture in there. This is planned for early Winter so you’ll hopefully see some activity soon.
