Many of you will remember our friend and affiliate member, Martin Bembridge who tragically lost his life in a car accident earlier this year.
Martin was a regular player at the course and in our weekly competitions – a larger than life gentle giant with a story to tell and a smile on his face. We wanted to hold an event to remember Martin and raise money for a local cause close to Martins heart – Mosborough FC. Martin was a keen football supporter (of the mighty Owls #WAWAW) and heavily involved in Mosborough FC where his son Harry still plays. Here’s all the details of the event:
Date: Saturday 2nd September 2023 from 07:30am – this will be an annual event taking place early September
Format: 18 hole Stableford competition
Entry Fee: £5 – 7 day members / £12 – 5 day members / £17 – Affiliate members / £20 – non-members. £5 deposit required to secure your place – please pay at Reception (cash preferably please).
Prize Fund: 1st place player will be presented with The Martin Bembridge Memorial Shield (the highest WHS score will win this) and 1st place prize. Proceeds will be split between the prize fund and Mosborough FC. The shield will remain at the golf club on display following engraving.
How Do I Enter: Enter via your online booking account or with Reception when you pay your deposit. The tournament is named ‘Martin Bembridge Memorial Shield’ dated 2nd September 2023. Entries will close on Saturday 26th August at 5pm, so please book early. You must have either a WHS or BLGC handicap to play.
Prize presentation will follow at The Royal Oak in Barlborough at 1pm where we hope you will join us for a drink to Martin. We won’t be providing any food as we’d like to maximise the profit for the charity.
