Rob has delivered the first two sessions of ‘GameStart’ to six new golfers and initial feedback is very positive.
We are now working towards our next NDGA offerings:
‘Take It To The Course’ – the follow on from GameStart. This programme will include teeing off, basic chipping, basic putting technique, an introduction to course management and basic rules & etiquette. We will also be offering free advice to anyone thinking of taking one of our NDGA programmes, so if you want join a programme in our academy but not sure which is the best fit for you, our pros will take a look at you, ask you a few questions and point you in the direction of the best programme to reach your next personal best level. Alongside the academy content work that is happening, we are also planning on installing some new driving range bays which will be primarily used for coaching, alongside tidying up the area between the our maintenance sheds, the driving range and coaching cabin. We realise this isn’t a great customer journey so we have plans to smarten the area up – we just need to wait for the ground conditions to be favourable so we can make a start.
James is also hard at work on a brand new Junior programme that will see youngsters moving progressively through a syllabus based ‘Level’ system collecting badges and honours along the way. There’ll be a mix of range instruction and on-course challenges to complete to advance to the next level and the coaching will focus more on getting juniors out and about on a golf course rather than tuition be mostly based around the driving range.
How are we going to get juniors on the course without hijacking it every Saturday?
Good question! Part of our development plans also include reviving our old bottom green behind the pond as a chipping/pitching green and enhancing the current FootGolf course by adding a 9-hole pitch & putt course – exciting!
Our juniors will be able to get course experience without being overwhelmed at the prospect of a full 9-hole course. This will mean we can take even the youngest juniors (aged 5+) out on the course where their tuition will focus on working back from green to tee via structured challenges. For example (not finalised!!), Level 1 might be holing out in less than 4 shots from the edge of the practice green. Level 2 – holing out in less than 4 shots from 10 yards off the bottom green. Level 3 – holing out in less than 4 shots from 20 yards off the green and so on until they reach level 10 which plays from a full length tee. Pair this with on course etiquette teaching right from the start and we believe we can create some amazing well-rounded, knowledgeable golfers for the future.
